The Metropolitan Region FrankfurtRheinMain

FrankfurtRheinMain is one of the economically most important European metropolitan regions. It is an international hub for trade, financial and information flows and services. In a global comparison, FrankfurtRheinMain is one of the most attractive locations for companies and skilled workers due to its high economic strength and quality of life.

8.14 percent of the GDP of Germany are generated on an area that makes up just 4.13 percent of the total size of the country. This is partially due to the large number of national and international businesses situated in the region and partially due to the increasing number of employees paying social insurance. Between 2018 and 2021 (as of 30th June) their number rose by more than 76,000 to 2,468,448.

In addition to the availability of sufficient commercial and industrial space, areas must meet certain quality requirements - such as for instance an efficient infrastructure, a suitable plot size and a good broadband supply. A shortage of building land also leads to higher rents. Commercial rents are an important criterion for the location and investment decision.

With the help of experts, nine chambers of industry and commerce in the FrankfurtRheinMain metropolitan region have compiled orientation values for office, retail and restaurant rents as well as for rental prices for storage, logistics and production facilities. Statistical data on population, labour market, purchasing power, retail centrality and tax rates complete the overview.
